What is love?
Is it a feeling that cannot be defined, A feeling that lasts for all of time? Is it a passion that never fades away, A love that will never have a darkening shade?
Define love. Someone on Instagram asked me that very thing the day before, and I've been mulling it over ever since, but I can't come up with a satisfactory response. What else can I say that hasn't already been said by sages and romantics?
There was nothing to add, so I wrote a poem:
What is love?
Is it a feeling so deep
That it can keep us from ever wanting to weep?
Is it a bond so strong it cannot be broken?
A friendship so lasting, it’s never been spoken?
Is it a kiss that lingers in the air?
A hug that warms the heart with special care?
Is it the flame of a passionate embrace,
A desire that never leaves a single trace?
Is it a look of pure admiration,
A secret adoration shared between two nations?
Is it a heart that beats fast and true,
A promise of loyalty that never feels blue?
Is it a dream that can never be forgotten,
A dream of a future that’s always been begotten?
Is it a bond that can never be broken,
A bond that will always be unspoken?
Is it a feeling that cannot be defined,
A feeling that lasts for all of time?
Is it a passion that never fades away,
A love that will never have a darkening shade?
Yes, love is all these things and so much more.
It’s a feeling that lives within us to explore.
Love is something that will never die,
A feeling that will always keep us alive.
