The Wisdomous : What broke you?
Welcome to The Wisdomous - a friendly email sent to you every week to nourish your mental wealth. You will find micro-lessons from macro thinkers, a good story, awesome reads and some fun suggestions.
How have you been? I hope you have had a good week so far. If you are reading this, when do you set aside time for yourself? Do you prefer mornings or evenings? or not at all?
This week, I pondered on this note:
When you observe someone digging through the trash, you don't inquire as to what they're seeking; instead, you ask as to what they've lost.
Think about it for two seconds, when we lose things and go back to them, is it because we made a mistake by losing the first time or is it because, after a careful review, we have changed our minds and went back for them?
I had this thought about relationships, and by that, I don't just mean romantic ones, but also friendships and family relationships, and how they must be bitter if they were cast out.
My friend, whatever you do, please don't run to whatever broke you!
When your future expectations don't match up with your current reality, it's easy to get scared. In this instance, you might want to go back to a familiar place, the past.
Current circumstances may cause us to forget past horrors that prompted us to decide to move on. But, unfortunately, what broke us isn't what will cure us, and looking back won't help much either.
I don't have much to say to you except that you can learn to conquer your past without going there, and you don't have to open that trash can ever again!

Notes.
Cultivate tact!
In society, it will be an invaluable aid. Talent is something, but tact is everything.
Talent is serious, sober, grave, and respectable; tact is all that and more too. It is not a sixth sense, but it is the life of all the five.
It is the open eye, the quick ear, the judging taste, the keen smell, and the lively touch; it is the interpreter of all riddles—the surmounter of all difficulties—the remover of all obstacles.
It is helpful in all places and at all times; it is helpful in solitude, for it shows a man his way into the world; it is useful in the society, for it shows him his way through the world.
Talent is power—tact is a skill; talent is weight—tact is momentum; talent knows what to do—tact knows how to do it; talent makes a man respectable—tact will make him respected; talent is wealth—tact is ready money.
For all the practical purposes of society, tact carries against talent ten to one.
Fun.
