For me, delivering junk is a constant battle as I write every day. I might as well not send you anything if I'm not going to send you anything.
I get a kick out of composing and sending this newsletter, but I don't want to waste either of our times with pointless ramblings.
Less is more
For this reason, I have developed a set of formulas for the things I write, and I'd like to share them with you in the event that you find yourself at a loss as to how to begin your own writing or creative endeavours.
Take a look at these gold nuggets:
To what extent did today's events affect your outlook on life?
This is a helpful method for keeping track of and documenting essential life lessons. You had your own unique day full of highs and lows, so document them.Figure out how to fix whatever is bothering you.
Create your antagonist and protagonist, then describe the problem you've been having and the steps you're taking to solve it.Dissect an item of interest to you, such as a favourite quote, film, or podcast. Since your life has given you a unique perspective on the world, you are in a prime position to analyse the meaning behind something seemingly innocuous that someone else has spoken. That's effective in most cases, so zero in on anything that interests you and analyse it from your own unique perspective.
The following are merely three suggestions to get you started. You might wonder, "What kind of framework should I employ?" Okay, here's the ladder method that Alex came up with:
“ This is a vertical structure on which you pin the relevant pieces of text that will form your article. Your ladder shows you which ideas you need to grab from your larger chunk, and in what order.” - Alex Mathers
